Safe & Sacred Adult Online Training Platform
ALL ARCHDIOCESAN/PARISH/SCHOOL CLERGY, EMPLOYEES & ADULT VOLUNTEERS, AS WELL AS CERTAIN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS, who have contact with minors or vulnerable adults, must complete our online Safe & Sacred training, a background check, a reference check, and accept and adhere to the Safe Environment policies. Archdiocesan Policy for safe environment includes the following:
- create a user account in the training portal
- submit a criminal background check application (background checks are renewed every three years)
- submit 3 reference checks to be returned to and approved by the local safe environment facilitator
- complete the annual safe environment training in the Safe & Sacred system
- accept and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Communications Policy
Until all steps have been completed in the online training portal, employees and volunteers may not serve at the parish/school or organization.
All criminal background checks are conducted by Integrated Screening Partners, and all criminal information returned is monitored by the Safe Environment Coordinator. When criminal information is returned, decisions concerning eligibility to be employed or volunteer is determined by the Safe Environment Coordinator and/or the Chancellor. Factors influencing eligibility include but are not limited to: charge, disposition, and date of offense. Criminal background checks are renewed every three years, and background screens are conducted annually in the Safe & Sacred portal and are monitored by the Safe Environment Coordinator.
